The United States Antarctic Program operates out of Christchurch, New Zealand, which allows the opportunity to travel around the country on the way to and from Antarctica. During both my trips to the ice, I took some time out on the way back to to travel around this wonderful country - during my first trip I travelled around the North Island, while during my second trip I traveled coast to coast of the South Island.
